I had researched several different breeds of dogs I wanted to get, and the AmStaff was one of them. My husband said "NO PIT BULLS!" I convinced him to just go take a look at an ad I saw for a 2 year old pittie named Daisy. We saw their 2 year old smacking her face several times, and Daisy just ducked her head- then kissed the girl! My husband was convinced on the spot that what he had heard about pit bulls was untrue.
Daisy loves all animals. One stormy night, I went outside to check on our new bunny. I couldn't find her in the cage at all! I noticed a small opening in the cage that she'd probably squeezed through and escaped. I couldn't find her anywhere. It was cold, dark, and pouring rain- so my husband and I let Daisy out to help us. She willing went out in the rain, even though she hates being wet! I showed her the empty rabbit cage, and told her to help us find Dustbunny. I didn't know if she understood or not, but within one minute, she found her! I tried to pick her up, but hopped away too fast. She was cold, scared, and muddy. So I told Daisy to go get her- and she did! She trapped the bunny using her front paws and her body so I could pick her up. Once I had her in my arms, Daisy even tried to clean her up and get the mud off of her!
We had one rabbit previously, who died only a few weeks earlier. I knew there was a problem when I saw Daisy lying by her cage whining & crying. Sure enough, the poor little girl had passed away. (She had a few health problems when she came to us that were being treated.)
We now have a new pittie puppy, Lollipop! She was left at a shelter at only 7 weeks old, and we were her 5th owners! She had been passed around so much because she was a "pit bull." |
